My less than successful attempts at Cake Pops!

You know how cute all those cake pop balls are! Well, I just had to decide to make them to take to two family functions, ok, here is where my "not-so-craftiness" rears it's ugly head....I know you will laugh, but try not to laugh too hard!  They do at least taste good.  Kelci (my 9 yr old) and I were going to attempt, no, we were GOING to make Reindeer and Santa Hats!  Ok, here goes...

ok - so these ARE NOT MINE! They are what they should
look like....

And these are what the Santa Hats should look like...

Here is where I am sure you are Rolling in the floor laughing your head off!  I know, they are NOTHING
like the pictures above! I am really saddened by this attempt or whatever you want to call it!

Closeup of Rudolph!

Ok, these are on the cute Candy Cane tray I made, they don't look too bad on there...maybe
presentation really does make a difference!  Nah, they still look ridiculous!

And, these are the Peppermint Patties, no they are not pretty either, something that looks
so stinking simple, I still mess it up!
Now that you have had your laugh, and I know you were laughing, I will just say, I am not sure that I will EVER make anymore cake balls!  Merry Christmas to all...oh and yes, I am still taking them to my family's and my inlaw's Christmas. I figure everyone needs a good laugh!

This and That

Ok, I have been sick this week, but I managed between fever breaks using what energy I had to do a few crafts, a couple for gifts, since the days are ticking down and needing these gifts. I did not plan to be sick, so instead of cleaning my house when I felt good, I had to make these things.    Here goes, it is a few different things.
This is a simple, but cute gift card holder.

If while on Pinterest, you saw the serving tray made out of candy mints, well, this is it!  I love it!

This is just like the others, only NOEL

Felt Pillow with Felt Flower

I found a blog today called the DIY Dish and I LOVE it!  They really have some cool things and great tutorials.  It is really great if I can do it and it turn out.  I first found felt scraps and made this felt flower, that does not match at all, but at least you can see the variations in the flower petals.  The flowers are so stinking cute and so easy to make!  The hardest part is cutting them out and that is not hard, just a little boring.

The pillow is some navy blue felt I had left over from a previous project I made, that I may post one day...long story about that one.  Anyhoo, I decided since my 9 yr old had navy in her bedroom, I would try this one for her.  So, I did the flower in Navy too.  The blog shows you all monochromatic colors too, but you can mix it up.  I made the pillow bigger than what they did in the blog, but the possibilities are endless. You should also check out their blog as well.

My trial run flower.  I think it is too cute, even though it is mis-matched.

My latest creations

Ok, these are so cute!  I got this idea guessed it...PINTEREST!!!!!!!  That is where all my ideas come from, because I am NOT creative on my own! Sorry, but that is the truth.  So, I am very thankful for Pinterest for helping me to be a little creative, even if they are not MY ideas.

These are not exactly what I saw, but I think they are too cute and in a sea of garland or ribbons, I think they could be really nice.  I have these for gifts.  I want to keep them, but I need to gifts for today, so I have to give them away.

I am not adding before pictures unless someone wants them, they take up too much space and these are kind of self explanatory.  If I did them without a tutorial, then anyone can.  The only thing I will say is that the wood blocks are from Home Depot and they are the ones in the moulding section that you can use in the corners.  The white candlesticks were from Goodwill for a dollar each and they were brass and I painted them a glossy white.  The clear glass ones are from the Dollar store and they were 1.00 each, only a few cents more because I had them shipped to my house. Tell me what you think....good or bad!

My New Scarf

Ok - I have tried to make several scarfs and and soon as I can get some good pictures of them, I will post them, but this one, I just had to post. It is too cute! At least I think it is. I wore it today and had many compliments.   Oh and I don't photograph well, so sorry!

Board to Display My Christmas Cards

Ok - I always have a problem displaying my Christmas cards and there are so many cute ideas on Pinterest. So, I took a couple of them with the supplies I have on hand and created my own version.  No, it is not as cute as I would like, but overall, I am pleased.  I used a square sheet of drywall I bought from Home Depot to test paint techniques on, some shiny silver wrapping paper, scissors, tape, ribbon and a hot glue gun.

If you do something like this, I would suggest using a lighter weight board!  This one is too heavy to hang.

The snowflakes look colored, but it is the light reflecting off of them.

I trimmed it with some shiny silver ribbon and made a bow for the corner.

It is on my window sill, not sure where to hang it.  This is heavy!

I just taped the cards and photo cards on there.

Lamp Decisions for my Quiet Room

OK - I told you in a previous post that I spray painted my lamp white and the shade a silver.  I was not sure if I liked the shape of the shade, so I bought another shade and it is a drum shape, I am thinking I like it best.  Now, I know the plastic is still on the shade, but I am not sure it is staying yet, so if it does, I will take it off and then I will cover it with a coordinating fabric.  I am not even sure what that will be yet. I could use ideas.
This is the painted base and the painted lamp shade that was once burgundy! It looks ok...

Here is the new drum lamp shade, I like it!  But, it needs some color and a pattern.  I need some fabric!

Paper Roses....yes, they are easy!

Ok - I did it, I made some paper roses. Yes, they are easy, a little time consuming, but easy. Next. I want to do a paper roses wreath!  But, that will come later when I have more time.  Here are the before and after photos on them.
This is just card stock and I took a can and traced my cirles.

Here, I have some flowers made...

They turned out pretty good I think.  Maybe they will look better the more I do, but for now, I am pleased!

My Quiet Room - A work in Progress

We have a "Quiet Room" in my house. This is my room!  It is where no tv or radio is allowed. I will allow gaming devices and reading devices. This is suppose to be the formal living room, but I am not a formal person, so I decided it would be my quiet place away from all the rest of the house and just relax and read or just to simply relax.

I have been planning out this room for months now. I have been in my house for almost three years and I have just started working on it. I am still not 100% sure what I want it to look like, but I do have a vision now.

I have decided I want it to look "classy" but done on a budget. Like you all will learn, I am not the craftiest person around, hence the name of my blog!

I will start by telling you that I bought an old antique chair from Goodwill for 9.00 that I have spraypainted white and will cover the seat with a blue and white fabric.   I have also purchased a sofa and oversized chair from someone on Craig's List and even though it is not the color I want and it really needs a good cleaning, it is a start.  I also got a blue wingback chair and a rug from a lady on ebay and I paid 27.00 for the chair and 20.00 for the rug, both of which I went to pick up locally.

The wingback chair, I am going to try my luck at painting the fabric.  I saw some people on Pinterest do this and I think I will give it a try. If I mess it up, I am not out that much money!  Wish me luck on this one!

For a coffee table, I took my old coffee table that had a glass center and it had an accident and broke, so I took the bottom off of the table, put the legs on the bottom of that, spray painted it a gorgeous silver!  I still have to spray poly on it to protect the finish.  I have two chihuahuas that jumped on it a few times when I moved it in front of the windows and they scratched.  So, I have to spray it again and then put the poly on it.

Ok, so far things are going well in here, until.....I painted my beautiful wooden lamp base that I loved and I painted it with a brush white and then I decided to do the second coat with white spray paint.  Well, needless to say, it looks terrible!  There are runs, spots where the color is just not covering well.  From a distance it looks ok and I can see the potential, but up close, it looks like......hmmm, what is the word I am looking for....yes, crap, that will do!  I am not sure how to make it look better. Do I keep piling on the paint?  Do I sand it down and try again?  I don't like to redo things and I certainly don't like to sand them!  I am one that likes to do it quick!  Maybe that is why some of my projects don't turn out. I have very little patience!

I also painted the burgundy lamp shade a shiny silver too.  It looks ok.  It is not the shape I like, but I do like the look.  But, just in case, I found a drum shade that I really like and I am going to look for some fabric to cover it with. My walls are a dark gray.  The color is Glidden - Seal Gray. I saw it on another blog.  I LOVE the color. It really makes my room look great.

So, as you can see, it is a work in progress.  And, since it is the Christmas season, I had to move my chairs and put up the Christmas tree, so I won't get to finish it until after Christmas.   I will post more pictures as I get to them.

Stands made from Clay Terra Cotta Pots

One of my favorite things to do is to go on Pinterest!  I LOVE PINTEREST!!!! I can spend hours on there...literally!

I found someone that took the terra cotta clay pots and made stands out of them! They are just the cutest things ever.  So, I gave it a shot.  One of them I made for my 9 yr old is an aqua blue to match her bathroom and I made it look antique and it actually turned out great.  I also made a silver one for me. I am really into silver/platinum/gray lately.  I didn't antique the silver one.
